Expansive Studentis acquires Scandinavias biggest festivalsite
Media company Studentis Group has acquired Scandanvia’s largest webportal for festivals and concerts, www.festivaler.se. This is the second large acquisition the company has made within the period of a week. Recently Studentis Group complemented their www.student.se community with the Belgian counterpart, www.student.be.
“With the acquisition of Festivalinfo.se we are widening our target group and the content that we can offer our members. We have seen a growing interest in music and concerts in our targeted market. Our ambition is that festivalinfo.se will not only be the defacto festival website for the Nordic countries but also a step into the European market as a whole “ , Says Andreas Swahn , CEO of Studentis Group.
Festivalinfo regularly reports from about 300 festivals and concerts in and around the Nordic countries and Europe. Festivalinfo.se has had very strong growth under the annual festival season and in August of 2007 managed to attract 109,000 unique visitors.
“For my part it feels as though Festivalinfo really is an important marketing channel. It is a place where people can investigate where they can get the best deal on the entertainment offered. It is pleasing to see that the concept will live on” , says Håkan Durmer , web publisher for the Hultsfredsfestivalien and Rock party, about the acquisition of Festivalinfo.se.
Creator of festivalinfo.se, Marcus Österberg, believes that the purchase provides the necessities needed for a larger pan-european commitment.
“It feels wonderful that Studentis is investing in Festivalinfo and will take the web service to the next level. Studentis has the know-how and resources to improve the services for the festival companies. At the same time the members will benefit from the experience of a company that is well versed in how a website should be managed ”, says Östberg
With its widespread development and aggressive acquisition strategy, Studentis has increased the numbers of community members from 25,000 to over 980,000 in under a years time and continues to grow at a quick pace.
